Avalanche

The past 24 hour's I have not seen or felt an avalanche, my partner and Rich Mashall and I Abby Watkins are very eager too get a day of skiing in and we are near Roger's Pass in Eastern BC. The temperature hovers around zero. We are not alone but we left behind 14 teenagers and 3 abuts. Climbing briskly until we stop for an break in a calm area. I look back at the people below and at the gang of teenagers and adults. All of there arms and legs catch my eye. I look back at Rich and say " Aren't kids funny? Look at that kid! ". At that very moment, almost at noon on Saturday, all of a sudden I hear a thunderous roar. My gang and I look up at the top of the mountain and see snow falling down the snow fall picking up speed then I scream " AVALANCHE ". Everyone starts skiing away as fast as they could. But we where all too late, it hit us all. We where all under 4.5 meters of snow. The whole valley was silent and all you could hear where our heart beats. Then the search and rescue team searches for us. They raced down too the first group of buried skier’s. The only sign of life is the odd hand and a few lags poking thought the snow. The others are buried in much deeper snow. Everyone was heart-broken. And didn't know who to save first? Not everyone would make it but those trapped near the top would have a better shot on survival. They saved a few but most did not!
